Getting Started / FAQ
If you are new to this work, you probably have questions. Good. Here are the ones people ask most often.
What is somatic sex education?
Somatic sex education is a body-based approach to sexuality and wellbeing. It combines education, guided embodiment practices, and somatic bodywork to help people develop a healthier, more conscious relationship with their body, their sexuality, and their pleasure. Unlike talk therapy, which works primarily through language and insight, somatic sex education works directly with the body – with sensation, breath, movement, and touch – because that is often where our deepest patterns live.
Is somatic sex education the same as sexual therapy?
No. Somatic sex education is not therapy, and I am not a licensed therapist, counselor, or psychologist. This is strictly educational, body-centered work. Traditional sexual therapy focuses on talk-based, cognitive exploration. In contrast, somatic sex education focuses on the physical body—using breath, conscious touch, and nervous system regulation to untangle old conditioning and safely map pleasure boundaries.
Because they bridge the mind and body, the two modalities complement each other beautifully. Many clients work with a traditional sex therapist and a somatic educator simultaneously. If you are currently seeking clinical psychological support or a licensed sexual therapist in Oaxaca, I am always happy to help connect you with trusted local resources.
Is this a sexual service?
No. This is not a sexual service, and sessions are not oriented toward sexual gratification. What we do work with is sexuality – as a dimension of human experience, health, and wholeness. Sessions may involve education about the body, guided practices around desire and sensation, and somatic bodywork. Conscious touch, including the possibility of genital touch, may at times support the process. This is never assumed, never initiated by me, and only ever explored if you express a clear desire for it within our work together. When it does occur, it is approached as an educational and somatic practice – something that can also be integrated into your life with a partner or trusted person. You are in charge of your experience at every moment.
Do I have to take off my clothes or will there be direct physical touch?
No, everything is decided under your absolute consent and at your own pace. Somatic work includes a wide variety of tools—such as breathwork, guided movement, verbal education, and mindfulness practices—that can be done fully clothed.
If your individual process would benefit from integrating conscious touch or bodywork, this will always be discussed beforehand. You decide at all times what clothing stays on, what type of touch you wish to receive (if any), and where your boundaries are. Nothing is ever assumed, and no practice is ever performed without your explicit agreement.
What happens in a first session?
Before we meet, you will fill in a short intake form and we will have a free 15-minute call to get to know each other and answer any questions you have. The first session itself begins slowly. We talk, we check in, we establish what feels right for you that day. There is no fixed agenda. Some people want to dive into bodywork; others need more time with education and conversation first. Both are completely fine. By the end of the session we make space for integration – to land, to reflect, and to make sure you leave feeling grounded.
I feel nervous. Is that normal?
Completely. Most people feel some nervousness before their first session, and often before subsequent ones too. This work touches tender places. Nervousness is welcome here. You don’t need to arrive feeling ready or open or certain. You just need to arrive.
Do I need experience with somatic or bodywork practices?
Not at all. Many clients come with no prior experience. We start wherever you are.
Is this only for people with sexual problems?
No. Many clients come with a specific challenge – performance anxiety, shame, numbness, pain, or difficulty with desire or intimacy. But many others come simply out of curiosity, or a sense that there is more available to them than they have yet experienced. You don’t need a problem to benefit from this work.
Do you work with individuals and couples?
Yes, I work with both. Individual sessions focus deeply on your personal somatic process, boundaries, and nervous system regulation. Couples sessions offer a safe space to explore shared embodiment, communication around desire and consent, and deepening intimacy.
Many partners looking for traditional couples therapy in Oaxaca find that just talking through relationship challenges isn't enough to break old patterns. Bringing somatic sex education into your relationship allows you and your partner to move past cognitive loops and safely practice somatic connection, emotional release, and energetic flow together. While this work is educational and does not replace psychological counseling or clinical couple therapy, it serves as a powerful, body-centered complement to traditional relationship therapy.
How do I know if this is right for me?
If you have read this far and something in you is curious – that is already a sign. The free 15-minute call exists exactly for this question. It is a no-pressure conversation where you can get a feel for the work and for working with me. If it doesn’t feel right, that is completely okay.
What is your cancellation policy?
Sessions can be cancelled or rebooked up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time for a full deposit refund. For cancellations within 24 hours, the deposit will be retained. Sessions begin and end at the scheduled time. If you arrive late, please know that the session will still close at the agreed time. Out of respect for your process and for other clients, I am not able to extend beyond the scheduled window. If something comes up, reach out as early as possible and we will find a solution where we can.
